About & Methodology
Big Red AI is a community hub for Cornell University alumni, built and maintained by Cornell alumni. It compiles public information about Cornellians — the startups they have founded, the companies they have taken to acquisition or IPO, their research, and more — into structured, verifiable directories.
How the startup directory is compiled
Each company in the startup directory was founded or co-founded by a Cornell University alum or student. Companies are sourced from public data — including Crunchbase, founder and company LinkedIn profiles, and news coverage — and the Cornell affiliation of at least one founder is verified before a company is listed. Each entry records the company, its founders (with Cornell class or graduate year where known), industry, funding stage, location, and links to the company website and founders' LinkedIn profiles.
How startup exits are compiled
The startup exits list covers acquisitions and IPOs of Cornell-founded companies. Exit type, exit date, acquirer or stock ticker, and the Cornellian founders are recorded for each company, drawn from public sources such as Crunchbase, SEC filings, and news reports.
Sources
- Crunchbase — company, funding, and exit data
- LinkedIn — founder profiles and Cornell affiliation
- SEC filings — IPO and public-company data
- News reports and company announcements — acquisitions and milestones
Updates
The directories are refreshed regularly from these sources. Each list page shows the date it was last updated.
