🐻🎉 4 years ago, I wrote an article for the Cornell Alumni Volunteers Blog, about organizing recurring events! I really like organizing recurring events, because you can grow a core group of regulars, who establish a culture, and welcome the newcomers, and the events grow bigger and bigger over time when organizing recurring events, I focus on structure and variety - structure so that the regulars can get into a rhythm and know where to go and what to do each time - and variety so that the events do not become repetitive and the regulars don’t get bored Come to the NYC Food Court Event tonight!! Wed 9/25, 6pm-10pm, at The Hugh’s food court (601 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022)! we meet at the Food Court every month for 2 years now - structure: it’s at the same food court each time, so Cornellians know where to find it - variety: new Cornellians come each time, and the regulars are really looking forward to meet you!! and Cornellians go through life changes together (ie getting married, losing a job, finding a new job, starting med school, retiring, buying a new house)
