Click for video: 🐻🚀 Robert Smith ’85 is founder of Vista Equity, the top Private Equity firm in software!! he’s at Cornell this weekend, he spoke about the importance of the African American community, of leadership in developing the community, and the imparting of values to future generations!! I was so inspired by his long-term broad thinking, how he measured the impact on his community beyond just himself, how he sees the African American community as a continuous narrative from historical figures like Martin Luther King, to the leaders of future generations!! he is strategic in long-term vision, but also tactical in real world impact!! for example, he worked with large banks to extend credit software infrastructure to community development funds, so the African Americans have access to loans (from 30/year to 3500/year), so the community has access to capital to expand their businesses (i.e. gumbo restaurant expanding their kitchen!!) it is a deep sense of appreciation for the elders in his community while growing up, to a deep sense of responsibility for growing the community for future generations!! read his book "Lead Boldly: Seven Principles from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." by Robert F.
