🐻🕯️ I am saddened by the passing of Thailand Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, LLM ’02, JSD ’05. She studied at the Cornell Law School, where she wrote her dissertation on the protection of the rights of the accused. She represented Thailand in the United Nations, where she championed the UN’s Bangkok Rules, guidelines on the treatment of women prisoners, i.e. access to gender-specific care, protection from gender-based violence, contact with children and family. She was an active Cornellian, a scholarship was established in her name for Thai lawyers to study at Cornell, and she came back to Cornell to speak at the Law School.
