🐻🏰 I lived in Risley my junior and senior years, it’s the red castle, next to the green bridge connecting north campus and central campus. It’s the arts dorm, there’s murals on all the walls, painted by students over the generations, some murals are cartoons, some murals are abstract, some murals are body shapes, some murals are 3-d, some murals are best viewed through the mirror, one mural remembers Jennifer Tzemis ’96, a Risleyite who passed away on 9/11.
I attended many performances at Risley. There’s a theater in Risley, and there’s a Tammany Hall for smaller performances, and the dining hall is sometimes used for performances too. I watched Rocky Horror Picture Show a bunch of times, Risleyites acted out the parts, in front of the movie showing on the big screen. I acted in Harry Potter night, the Risley dining hall looks like Hogwarts, a magical place, I’m not good at acting so I was the dementor. Around the December holidays, I watched a performance of Handel’s Messiah in the dining hall.
Tonight is the Risley Holiday zoom party. Risleyites from across the generations, come share stories. Judith Mecklenburger ’72, the founder of Risley program house, will share the founding of program house.
