🐻💪 ILR Union Days bring top Labor Leaders to Cornell, to share their labor organizing experiences!! at one event, Chris Smalls, founder of the Amazon Labor Union, shared how he started from nothing at the Staten Island warehouse, and successfully organized the first Amazon worker union, standing up against the biggest billionaire tech giant. it’s a testament to the strength of human willpower, and the robustness of America’s legal system at another Union Day event, labor organizers rotated through roundtables of 8 students each, and shared in small discussions their experiences. I learned about unionizing from metalworker and flight attendant and government worker. their jobs are so different from each other, but there’s the common thread of respecting the humanity of workers, in the uncaring machinery of capitalism
