🐻🐻 Lana Kennedy-Brol ’25 grew up on the Seneca Nation reservation, enrolled at Cornell in 2003, but dropped out due to her mental health. This year, 2022, she returned to Cornell to resume her studies as a freshman hotelie. She’s a nontraditional undergrad student: 36 years old, cancer survivor, with a 10-year-old son in elementary school. Being a nontraditional student is difficult: she’s unable to work-study due to childcare, financial aid doesn’t fully cover her unique situation, and she’s unfamiliar with the college process (her father didn’t attend college, and her mother passed away when she was 11). Lana is good at problem solving, interested in becoming a lawyer. She’s taking a web programming class, and is building Big Red Questions, to answer questions commonly asked by first-gen students, students who don’t have the family support. #cornell #anypersonanystudy
