🐻🦃 this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for being a Cornellian!! I immigrated to the US, and the Cornell community gave me a sense of deep roots, that I can meet Cornellians across the decades, and I feel a sense of belonging, of being a Cornellian as well! it’s so great that the Cornell community can extend these deep roots to any person (any person, any study!!)
I am also thankful for several relaxing days in DC, before going to NYC for the December holidays!:
- it’s wonderful to spend time with my parents, we went hiking together, cooked together, and watched a few holiday movies together!
- I reread one of my favorite books, Only the Paranoid Survive, by Andy Grove, the CEO of Intel in the 80s-90s, on what to do during Strategic Inflection Points, where some crucial assumption you work with day-to-day no longer is valid (there’s a bunch of that happening now, with AI, wars, political instability)
- I also played my favorite card game, contract bridge, it’s the most beautiful game, finding clarity and control within the chaos, the best feeling is figuring out how the suit breaks, and seeing and executing the next 10 moves with perfect clarity
I’ll be in NYC to organize Food Court Event on Tue 12/3, 6pm-10pm at The Hugh’s food court (601 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022), please let me know if you can come!!
