Mobile uploads 🐻🐄 I had a great time at NYC Climate Week last week!! The Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability organized the hottest events of the week! - I learned how cows generate a bunch of methane, and how Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is investigating ways for lower-methane livestock, through smart science, good policy, and happier cows!! - I learned about the Nuclear industry at Cornell Tech, the US is bringing back more nuclear plants to balance the growing energy needs of data centers as well as better energy storage units. but there’s so much technical debt, each of the 50 nuclear reactors are first-of-their-kind, making it really hard to upgrade all the nuclear plants and standardize everything! - I learned about carbon credits from the Cornell Johnson School of Business, about how they are audited, and how it’s important to look for co-benefits of the carbon credits, ie do they plant only one type of tree, vs planting a biodiversity of trees for better long-term ecosystem!! I also attended a non-Cornell Climate Week event, it was an Economist Impact event (Economist the weekly newspaper from UK)! I met a Cornellian who spoke on the panel, a Cornellian who was in the audience, and a Cornellian who organized the event!!! Cornellians are everywhere at Climate Week!!!
