Mobile uploads 🐻🎉 Congrats to the New Cornell Graduates!!!! I attended so many ceremonies this weekend, it was so inspiring to hear how Cornell grads are ready for post-graduation careers!! One common theme: college is structured, and careers are unstructured - the Veterinary speaker talked about the disappearance of the predictable dopamine score of finishing an exam - the Info Sci speaker talked about how classes have natural starts and finishes, but there’s no natural starts and finishes in careers, you have to decide when to start Another common theme: within this lack of structure, you have to find your own path - the Performance Media Arts speaker talked about how education isn’t the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire - the PhD speaker told everyone to seek out beauty, the irresitable invitation to study something not only because it’s useful, but because it’s delightful - the Biology speaker talked about the universe from the big bang to today, how everything progressed over time, and we are part of this process It was so inspiring to hear these speeches, and I’m so proud to be a Cornellian, with all these newly graduated Cornellians!!!!!
