Sheepskin is different from Wool, Sheepskin is tanned sheepskin with the hair still on it, upcycling an animal product that typically gets thrown away from the lamb chop slaughterhouses! The Sheepskin is very comfy, keeps you warm and cozy, like a sheep!! Sheepskin was used traditionally in Kazakhstan and Tibet, and fewer and fewer people know how to craft using Sheepskin now, so Ithaca Sheepskin started an artist-in-residence program to get more artists using Sheepskin again! Jessica Leonard ’12 and Mark Leonard ’97 got married, and moved to Ithaca, and have the small store in Downtown Ithaca, where they do most of the manufacturing! Most sales come from their online Shopify store, and some come from the summer and holiday in-store traffic!
