🐻🍔 Ithaca Food: Cornell’s Center for Jewish Living dining hall, it’s a wonderful community, two long tables, people sit and chat and work on homework together. It’s named 104West!, the exclamation mark is part of the name, and it is well-deserved, because the food is really good!
On the meat day, I ate the beef shawarma and rice (5/5), chicken noodle soup (5/5), grilled chicken (5/5) after the beef shawarma ran out, some type of really good beans (5/5) I think it’s garbanzo but not sure, and had three cups of orange juice (5/5). And on the dairy day, I had the salmon lox and fruit salad (5/5), and the vegan meatballs with aged parmesan cheese (5/5), and 3 scoops of Cornell Dairy Bavarian Raspberry ice cream (5/5)!! A mashgiach makes sure everything is kosher, there are two kitchens and two serving areas, the dairy half is covered up on meat day, the meat half is covered up on dairy day
I came to Shabbat dinners all the time when I was a student, we sang songs, ate challah, drank grape juice, celebrated holidays, 104West! has a lot of wonderful memories
(also, news from this evening: a suspect is in custody, from the horrible antisemitic messages posted on the online forum, there was an FBI raid on an apartment in Collegetown, I believe they are related, but nothing is confirmed yet, I’ll post more when I find out)
