🐻🍔 Cornell Food Hackathon!! 180 Cornell students competed, over 3 days, created food product ideas ranging from a refrigerator device that keeps the food inside fresher, to a coffee-tea mixed drink, to a carbonated honey fruit drink! the winning teams won $750-$3000 to develop their ideas further!!
Hackathons are amazing learning experience, industry mentors (like Robyn Carter ’96, expert in consumer trends!!) go to all the teams and give advice, workshops teach students how to come up with ideas and pitch their ideas, and students work in 6-person teams that mix food scientists with engineers with MBAs with PhDs and more!!
There are so many hackathons at Cornell every year! In addition to the Food Hackathon, there’s also the Animal Health Hackathon, the Health Hackathon, the Big Idea Hackathon, the Big Red Hacks, the Pillsbury Hospitality Hackathon, the Digital Ag Hackathon, and more!! There’s even a class that teaches students about hackathons, ie how to come up with ideas and how to present ideas at hackathons!!!
