🐻🕯️ I turned 33 years old yesterday. As I reflect on the past year, I feel that time is so temporary, the hours come and go, the years come and go. But over the past year, I’m most grateful for the hours I spent meeting Cornellians, for the hours I spent connecting Cornellians with each other, I feel a Cornellian friendship is so substantive, so permanent, we will always be Cornellians, we will always run into each other in the future, we will always have our shared memories together.
Over the past year, I went to Cornellian weddings, Cornellian bar mitzvahs (their children’s), Cornellian film premieres, Cornellian inaugurations, Cornellian gallery openings, Cornellian birthdays, Cornellian award receptions, Cornellian funerals. I’m so grateful to attend these special events. I also met so many other Cornellians at these special events, I met their sorority sisters, I met their freshman dormmates, I met their Reunion friends, I met their alumni club friends. I saw the importance of Cornellian friendships throughout a Cornellian’s life.
Whenever I visit campus, I always sit on my favorite stone bench, the bench is on top of the slope, it was from 1892, the Cornellians from then all long passed, but the bench is still there, the slope is still there, the sentiment and spirit is still there. "To those who shall sit here rejoicing / To those who shall sit here mourning / Sympathy and greeting / So have we done in our time"
