Mobile uploads 🐻🚀 Chip Camp!! 3-day summer camp, high schoolers learn about silicon chips at Cornell’s NanoScale Facility, in Duffield Hall in the engineering quad! I liked the microscope station, we used the microscopes to look at nanoscale etchings on chips (small mechanical gates that open and close depending on electric force, it’s a physical transistor, that doesn’t leak). We also looked at butterfly wings (nature is amazing!!!) Students tried on clean room suits, to keep the clean rooms clean, the dirt/dust out! Shoes are especially dirty, so first a bag around the shoe, then another boot outside of that, with 3 straps to tighten it. We also got beads that turns colors in sunlight UV rays, UV rays are important in silicon manufacturing, to create the patterns on silicon chips, so they have useful properties, like run a computer!! Micron is building a $100bn silicon chip factory in Syracuse, needs 9,000 workers! Chip Camp is part of workforce development, the high schoolers from Syracuse signed up for it, and they spend 3 days learning about silicon chips. This is the third Chip Camp organized by Micron. The goal is to inspire the students, Silicon Chips are so cool!!
