George Washington stayed in the House during the Revolutionary War (and there’s a ghost living in it now!!!) the house is over 250 years old, and it takes a lot of work to maintain an old house!! one of the front pillars fell down, and needs to be replaced! the roof needs to be replaced too!! at the gala, I met architects and historians, who are trying to preserve the house! there’s also a lot of community engagement, 4000 students visit the house through school, as well as adult programs too, with Jazz at the Mansion and Parlour Chats!! it is a small nonprofit, with great historical significance, it takes a lot of stewardship, to be a good board member!!
