Stowe, VT Stowe, VT, the big church!! semiconductors!!! waste management!! the HQ!! ice cream!! where the VT constitution was signed late night visit to the VT Constitution House!! it’s in the district, of a Cornellians running for office!! train station and restaurant! cheese!!! cheddar cheese!!! 🐻🍁 I was so impressed by Vermont, when I visited last week: - the Vermont people are so friendly, everyone says hello, I saw the same person 3 times in Montpelier, and he said "hello friend" the 3rd time we saw each other!! - the Vermont songs are full of community and pride, I really liked "The Song of the Vermonters", about how every Vermonter has something to contribute to Vermont, whether by sword, or scythe, or pen - the Vermont politics is hyper-local, each state assemblymember only has 5,000 constituents and state senator has 20,000, everyone door knocks, everyone knows each other, it’s democracy at its finest - the Vermont economy is well-diversified, I visited Casella waste management, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, GlobalFoundries semiconductors, Cabot creamery, it’s a small community with a productive economic engine - the Vermont nature is a beautiful backdrop, always present, everywhere you go, and there’s a special New England aesthetic to the towns, a peaceful serenity, no need for more, everything where it needs to be Cornell taught me the importance of community, how community creates a wonderful sense of belonging.
