🐻🚀 I visited a Cornellian’s Seed stage startup at The Engine, the commercialization accelerator of MIT!! Stwart Peña Feliz ’17 got an MBA at MIT, and founded MacroCycle Technologies that upcycles low quality plastics into high quality plastics, that could be reused by manufacturers!! (for water bottles, sunglasses, and more!!)
it is a chemical process that turns short strands of low quality plastic into long strands of high quality plastic, by first turning the short strands into rings (aka macrocycles) which no longer has end caps, and then breaking the macrocycles into smaller strands, that would combine with each other (because the end caps aren’t blocking them from combining anymore!)
it is so inspiring to see all these MIT researchers and founders working late on Friday evening, turning their inventions into companies!! companies at The Engine specifically choose tough technologies, that are tough to commercialize, but is important for society!!
I’m organizing a small gathering of Cornellians in Boston this evening, please come to meet Cornellians!!
