There is no grand meaning. We are only atoms that grouped together in an evolutionarily effective way. Physics is unlikely to come up with the grand meaning. It is actually going in the opposite direction making the world more rational and more calculated. Philosophers and writers have searched for the grand meaning and have not made much progress. When a turtle lives a worthless life, we do not feel bad. When a monkey lives a worthless life, we do not feel bad. So why is it bad when we live a worthless life? There is no grand meaning for turtles and monkeys. There is no grand meaning for humans either. The world initially was a new clean physics-driven computer with nothing installed. It is blank and boring, so we start building a video game like World of Warcraft. We use the RAM and the GPU to add rules and spells. We create virtual alliances and quests to accomplish. We add laws to let everyone play fairly. We create marriage and friendships to play the game with others. We add levels to feel progress. We create religion to get people to believe the game is everything. The key is that it is all man-made. Some dislike the man-made aspect of it. It may be prideful refusal to play the game by another person’s rules. It may be strong curiosity to accept nothing but the grand meaning. I no longer side with these people. There is no grand meaning to search for. Everything more than what a monkey thinks is man-made. There is no more meaning than what is made by man. It would be miserable alienation to reject the game. My parents gave me a lifetime subscription to World of Warcraft. I want to embrace it and accept there is nothing more in the world. I no longer want to seek for the grand meaning that is outside of the game and that is not there. I want to train up my spells and make friendships to play the game more effectively and embrace all the man-made aspects. I do not want to be the Level 1 noob walking around aimlessly not wanting to attack. The great thing about life’s version of World of Warcraft is that the rules are not hard-coded and can be shaped by its players. We can make it more fair by giving everyone a chance to reach the highest levels, no matter where they spawn from. We can make it more interesting by creating more quests or whatever we can imagine. Let’s make the best game ever and play it as well.
