🐻🚀 Weill Cornell Startup Pitch Event!! Weill Cornell is an amazing research hospital, amazing at teaching doctors, and amazing at biotech entrepreneurship too!!! The Biotech Ventures class takes in 13 biotech startups in NYC each year, helps the scientists learn the business side, they have 29 mentors that help, through 12 weeks of classes and 3 weeks of mentorship pitching I was so impressed by the variety in business ideas! there was a pharma drug that repairs the neurons after a blood clot stroke, a new CRISPR workflow that speeds up biallelic knock-in gene editing for genetic diseases, a vaccine for fentanyl addiction, and a breast implant that facilitates tissue ingrowth so it stays in place!! We went to the Weill Cornell Faculty Club for drinks afterwards, it was so interesting meeting all the NYC biotech ecosystem, it is really becoming a hub, just like Boston and San Francisco! we have all the pieces of the ecosystem: academia (Cornell, NYU, Columbia), industry (JNJ, Pfizer, Moderna), and Weill Cornell BioVentures connecting it all together!!!
