🐻🚑 Lauren Wetterhahn ’11 runs Inclusive Alliance, an alliance of 40 health nonprofits in Syracuse and Central NY. Inclusive Alliance provides nonprofits with access to tech resources (electronic health record systems), client referrals (i.e. refer mental health patients for housing support), and workforce development (partner with local schools, i.e. to teach disability provider certifications). Over 100k patients/year go through the 40 nonprofits in the alliance, covering all aspects of health: mental health, food and nutrition, housing support, disability accessibility, and more. Inclusive Alliance also works with the 3 main hospitals in the area, to direct their patients to more healthcare options, rather than just going back to the hospital (reduces hospitals’ readmission penalties, and leads to patients’ better health outcomes). Lauren became executive director in 2016, and Inclusive Alliance now built partnership with almost every health nonprofit in Central NY. Exciting projects this year, include rollout of a diabetes prevention program (the Central NY part of a national program), and helping people maintain paperwork to stay on their health insurance.
