π»π Cornellian sheep farm!! The Ellis Hollow sheep is a special breed of sheep, bred in the Ellis Hollow area a few miles east of Ithaca! The sheep are good for yarn (Nancy shows them at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Show each year), and are good for meat (slaughtered according to ethnic and religious traditions)
The sheep herd has a donkey (Lucia!!) as bodyguard against the coyotes in the area! Lucia does a great job, and she likes carrots!! Shy at first, she got much friendlier, after she ate the carrot, and I stood there for a while!
The Cornell Sheep program has grazing grounds nearby, grazing neighbors!! The animal science program has shifted focus to the small microbiology over time. Nancy grew up with sheep, and hopes the sheep program will continue at Cornell
