Mobile uploads 🐻🏒 Cornell Women Hockey!! at the "D1 in DC" tournament, to inspire the next generation of women hockey players! Washington DC doesn’t have a professional women’s hockey team, so DC-area parents take their daughters to the "D1 in DC" to explore their interest in hockey (there’s a free on-ice clinic too, where they learn from Cornell players and coaches!!)!! After the game, a long line of the Youth Girls got autographs from the Cornell women, it was so inspiring to see!! (I lined up for autographs too!!) Women sports is really important, it doesn’t have the fanbase and money that men sports have, but it’s really important that women get the chance to play sports (teaches important skills, role models, and more!) It was so inspiring to chat with the coaches and the parents and the players, to hear the hard work they’re putting in to overcome these barriers. Cornell is a great place for women to play hockey!! The women’s coach Doug ’91 is also a coach for the Canada National Olympic Team, the team has wonderful team dynamic (people transfer to Cornell for this reason), and amazing alumni come back to help out, like Digit Murphy ’83 (coach for a professional women’s hockey team, as well as built the China’s National Olympic Team)! This is a big weekend for Cornell hockey!! If you’re in DC, please come to the game today as well (it’s a Friday-Saturday 2 game combo!!).
