Mobile uploads 🐻📠 I visited Human Ecology’s Digital Design and Fabrication Studio!! It is where fashion and design students make their projects! It was rated the best machine shop on campus, teams from around the university come to use the HumEc machine shop, known for its knowledgable staff, clean workspaces, and during the Covid March 2020 mask shortage, they laser cutted thousands of masks for the Ithaca community!! The staff are very helpful, for example, if you have a 3d Revit file, they help you translate it into a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) readable format, so the machine can cut the design. I was most impressed by the laser machine the most!! It uses a laser to cut designs on clothing, so the clothing could have very intricate designs. We got the largest laser cutter in the New York State, good for full-body pieces of fabric (rather than laser cut small pieces separately, then stitch together into one piece) They got lasers, wood cutters, metal cutters, 3d printers, electronics, and painting station! I also liked the vending machine system they use for tools, users can check out tools for free, and the machine would keep track of who has which one! Come visit them on the Terrace level of MVR!!!
